A year in which the land of Montepulciano experienced constant rainfall in all seasons, which lengthened the cycle of plants, resulting in late ripening.
Hence the decision to adopt competitive planting and avoid fertilisation, in order to limit the excessive rigour of the vines. Monitoring and fighting fungal diseases was not easy in such conditions, although results were still achieved, with good grapes and a drop of just 20% in production.
